Originally constructed in 2002, the property has benefited from much care and attention aimed toward preserving the pristine local environment in which it is situated. The resort is 6 miles from the Southern highway, in an area known as South Stann Creek, being approximately, 35 miles south of Dangriga, 12 miles north of Placencia, and just south of Sittee Point and the Sapodillo lagoon.
Kanantik is built on 325 acres and 1300 feet of private beach, in a remote wilderness area that presently contains no other developments. The whole area is rich in wildlife, being just four miles south of the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, (a 150,000 acre National Park, established in part, to help preserve the elusive Jaguar ) and only 12 miles from the South Water Caye Marine Reserve on the Belize barrier reef.
Currently operated as a profitable all-inclusive resort, Kanantik consists of 25 individual cabanas that are both spacious and luxurious. Each of these 550 sq.ft cabanas are air-conditioned and set apart for maximum privacy. There are also cabana-style reception, restaurant and bar buildings inspired by Maya tradition, and furnished with handcrafted items from local artisans.
Kanantik also has a fully equipped dive shop, including Newton 42′ and Newton 32′ dive boats offering SCUBA diving and snorkeling excursions to the nearby reef. Sailing on our Hobie Cat, sea kayaking, or just swimming in our freshwater pool, are activities also available .
Guests can fly direct to our private, paved airstrip from the Belize International Airport with Tropic Air on regular scheduled flights – no charters necessary. The airstrip is located four miles from the resort, on a private 25 acre property.
